What is the NGO Darpan Unique ID?
NGO Darpan (ngodarpan.gov.in) is the NITI Aayog platform that keeps a central database of voluntary organisations and NGOs. When your NGO signs up and its PAN and details are verified, the portal generates a Darpan Unique ID in the format State/Year/Number (for example UP/2026/0xxxxxx).
What the Darpan ID is used for

Why your NGO needs NGO Darpan registration
For most NGOs the Darpan ID is the first government registration after formation, because several other registrations and funding routes depend on it.

Who can apply for NGO Darpan registration?
Any registered non-profit organisation can sign up. Individuals and unregistered groups cannot.

Is NGO Darpan registration mandatory?
It is not required to form or run an NGO, but it is needed to apply for grants from central ministries and departments and for FCRA registration and services. In practice, most active NGOs should get it.
Is there any government fee for NGO Darpan registration?

Is the Darpan ID required for 12A and 80G registration?
It is not a legal precondition, but the application asks for the Darpan ID if you have one. Getting it first keeps your records consistent, which is why our 12A + 80G combo includes it.
Will the NGO Darpan ID get my NGO a government grant automatically?
No. The Darpan ID only makes your NGO eligible to apply. Each ministry or department selects NGOs under its own scheme guidelines, so you still need to apply separately for every grant.

No periodic renewal is prescribed. You should update your profile whenever members, address or registrations change.
